⚡HV battery health
The state of health (SOH) of your high-voltage battery is critical in determining the donation value of your electric vehicle. It's recommended to obtain a battery assessment using an OBD-II scanner or the manufacturer’s app to ensure an accurate SOH report. For older Nissan Leafs, it's common to find batteries with less than 50% SOH, which can significantly impact value, often reducing it to $1,500-$3,500. More recent models, like the Ford Mustang Mach-E or VW ID.4, may be appraised significantly higher based on condition and battery performance. Remember, EVs with compromised batteries can still be donated, but the value will be considerably lower.
EV-specific pickup logistics
Pickup of your electric vehicle will be handled by our professional team using a flatbed tow truck to ensure safe transport. Please note that we will disconnect the high-voltage battery during the pickup process to adhere to safety protocols. Each vehicle must come with its charging cable, ensuring the next owner has everything they need to get started. If you're concerned about the condition of the vehicle, we can arrange for a Tesla Service Center or dealer pre-inspection before transport. Rest assured, we also manage the logistics for non-running EVs with care.
What drives donation value
Louisville EV context
In Louisville and across Kentucky, electric vehicle donation comes with certain nuances. While our state offers various EV incentives, be aware of potential clawback rules if you’ve previously claimed any credits. It’s also essential to note that Kentucky charges specific registration fees and ad-valorem taxes for electric vehicles. The local EV-sharing density is gradually increasing, with regional demand for EVs strong, making your donation timely and impactful.
